The Uists & Eriskay 3/3
Four Days on the Uists & Eriskay
On the final leg of our trip we took the Calmac ferry from Leverburgh to Berneray. As you can see from the images it was another glorious day with a flat calm sea. Our drive south took us through Berneray, North Uist, Benbecula and finally to the very south of South Uist to our home for the next four nights, the Polochar Inn.
The beautiful weather continued for the rest of our time in the Outer Hebrides. Highlights included (not in any order) the people, the stunning views towards Barra, Kilbride Beach, the sunsets, the sunrises, the last of the Machair ... the list goes on. However a life changing experience happened after a chance encounter led me to find some Eriskay ponies grazing near the north of the island's causeway. I spent a magical time photographing these amazing animals. I will return to Eriskay to spend more time with them. The ponies are on the at risk register however the Eriskay Pony Society charity is doing great work to raise awareness of the breed. I've donated some of my images to them for their fundraising.
Limited edition fine art prints are also available to buy.
