From the Sea to the Land

I often listen to music while I’m working on my pictures in our studio and my favourite playlist includes Sea Power’s From the Sea to the Land Beyond. Most of my childhood was spent either on or near the sea, my father is a keen sailor and fisherman (he's a former North Sea diver too). My daughter is a professional mermaid! More on that another time.

I love watching, listening to and capturing the sea; but if I'm being totally honest I am frightened by its power.  We are now lucky enough to live a 5 minute drive from beautiful Tynemouth, North East England and two or three times a week we visit the coast; whatever the weather. Tide tables, weather and the shipping forecast have become the norm.

Capturing these images has been the most rewarding, relaxing, creative and mindful time I’ve had in many years. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have had making them.
